The B.A. Rudolph Foundation supports women as they launch their professional career by providing internship scholarships, mentoring, and networking opportunities. We select between 12 and 20 scholars per summer for our STEM and public service scholarships. We strive to pair each scholar with 1-2 mentors in her related field and would like to draw upon the Million Women Mentors network to identify mentors for our STEM scholars. The time commitment per mentor is approximately 6 hours between the months of May and September. Mentors meet in person or by phone with their mentee at least once a month during the summer, offer professional advice, and if possible, connect mentees to other individuals in her related field.

The STEM Certificate Program at Mar Vist ...

The STEM Certificate Program at Mar Vista Family Center (MVFC) provides support to low income ethnic minority students who attend schools with limited science and math educational resources and programs. The program serves economically-disadvantaged, at-risk youth ages 13-18 from 8th to 12th grade, with the racial/ethnic composition being 100% Latino. Currently, all youth in the STEM Certificate program are living at or below the poverty level, with an average household income of $23,575 in a five family household. Our STEM program here is relatively new, operating its third year and relies heavily on volunteers to come in and deliver lessons or lectures on any topic within the STEM field. As such, we are always recruiting interested parties and persons to come and visit with us to lead a STEM talk or to put us in contact with people and organizations for potential field trips. Our STEM group, which currently integrates both genders, meets every Monday from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
