Our middle school girls could benefit from additional mentoring, namely a mentor in the field of science/technology/mathematics. Our middle school girls suffer from a variety of emotional and social issues. Many struggle to maintain good grades in the more challenging academic subjects. Our girls would benefit from the extra support and mentoring to excel in school and apply to rigorous academic programs of study for high school. This school year we had about five proficient science fair projects completed by our middle school young ladies. They could truly use the additional push and support to compete and be successful.

I am Shreya Hegde and myself and a couple other Girl Scouts in the area were interested in creating a new FTC Robotics team. To learn more about FIRST robotics, please visit this web page: https://www.firstinspires.org/ I've been a Girl Scout for 7 years now and have been interested in robotics ever since I was 3 years old. I am familiar with the first program as I've been working with it for 4 years now, but my friends and I are starting a new team for the next 2017-18 FTC season. Our team's motto will be about getting younger girls to join STEM. We were wondering if you would be interested in speaking to our team about your journey in a STEM field as a woman, or if you would be interested in mentoring our team during our next competition season. Either one of these would truly help us since we could really use mentorship help throughout our new season weather it may be as a coach or organizer for our team; also looking for a sponsorship to fund our parts. Thanks, Shreya Hegde

We would love to have mentors attend our Thursday after school events from 4:30-5:30 pm. Our high school girls are hosting a free program for 3rd-8th grade girls interested in STEM. This will involve tutoring, women empowerment activities, confidence-building discussions, and STEM challenges. We would also be open to skyping during these sessions. Our SWE club on campus has about 50 active members (9th-12th) and our mentoring program has about 30 elementary-middle school students. Our program would be stronger with a professional mentor. I am a Physics teacher, but looking for more female leaders to help run this program or even attend for a handful of these events.

NPower provides free technical and professional skills training to Baltimore young adults (ages 18-25). As our student population continues to expand, we are having more and more young women participate in our program. I would like to pilot a program with someone of our young women and connecting them to women in technology, because it's so much harder to be successful when you don't see yourself "in the picture." For most of our students, this is their first venture into the world of technology, and any guidance and perspective given is absorbed into their actions and how they present themselves. I'm very excited to coordinate this effort on NPower Baltimore's behalf!
